Questions and Answers, and Debate
(SessionA)Presentation−each opinion about developmental disorders
After a cat who wrties prolix styles greeted, presentations started.
“How will we make 'the present time' of children with developmental disorders being useful for their 'future'?”
General incorporated association TETRA COCO tetra coco Anny teramachi
A Service Manager Katuyuki Umaba
TETRA coco offers services ''Individual Leaning Support' and 'Social Skill Training, Life Skill Training' for children with disabilities.
TETRA coco helps each of them grow up step by step by holding classes which teach the meanings of words and concepts of words, and helping their self-supports of elemental life activities such as bath, offering extra-curricular activities.
Mr. Umaba works as a service manager at TETRA coco.
He discovered big problems in the 'presentation time' in offering various support activities
Firstly, a lying problem is an accurate self-understanding in 'current place.'
After pasting time having 'a feeling of the almighty or being able to do nothing' without reason, many children lost self-confidence and say 'I'm no value.'
Also, there is problem that children today don't have no opportunity they think of their current condition and their future in easy stages because there are busy.
How should he develop 'current' children into their 'future'? Mr. Umaba said that 'now I struggle with this problem with trouble'.
Children have troubles concerning their future. Moreover, recently since many high schools have started to have particular fields, children who have only 'ambiguous future image have had disadvantages in present society.
How should he do for children to have their future and carrier images and arrive them? 'Our office wants to make proper ways for them, with them.' Mr. Umaba talked he thought about his office' vision and his vision itself.
“What is 'on disabilities' in all cases. How will we utilize and make a plus disabilities”
Incorporated Nonprofit Organization CIL Toyonaka
A Support Stuff Member Taro Neya
Mr. Neya has worked as a support staff member with developmental disorders himself.
He is much troubled by his characteristics.
'I can't continue to concentrate'
'I dip into his image world and can't escape from there'
'I can't remember contents of others talk instantly if I was requested my impressions'
'When I concentrate on something, I overlooked others'
He often has in such conditions when he worked and heard talks at meetings, Inmany cases, he was evaluated as 'he has no intentions or no interests to others' talks,' 'he has no interests in others,' so that he has always been in a sweat to modify himself before his diagnosis.
After his diagnosis, he convinced them as characteristics of his disabilities and accepted them. But, he wonders often 'really, is it good to only self-acceptance and self-judgment? Is their cause really disabilities?'
Having coflicts in him, but he said 'I find life worth living to encourage other people with disabilities.'
I want to experience various things and encounters as a person with disabilities, even if I conflicted with myself and others in many cases, I seek accepting myself by myself. Furthermore, at last, he said 'I tried rejecting myself to adopt me to my working environment inning the past, but from now on, I want to have courage to express myself honestly.'
Also, he talked his feelings and thinkings.
Brain is overworking rapidly and thinkings are not arranged---.
What differences are there between the world the non-disabled and the disabled---.
Like this, many participants had the impression, 'we could gain useful informationabout how the disabled feel' to his presentation about how he fell.
“As a Mediator between people with disabilities and society ~Meanings and Problems which People with developmental disorders come in society”

A Staff Member Tomokazu Takenaka
Takenaka was diagnosed as developmental disorders when he was a graduate student, but now, work as a supporter for people with disabilities by supporting regular staffs and dealing with operational control.
Takenaka feels 'special meaning which developmental disorders participate' very useful as a theme for presentations. But, at the same time, both of society and we have problems to realize it too.
Especially, he said about 'two need principles for people who go out society' but he takes care about it while working.
@ What is things devote myself to ?
A How do I utilize it in society and for others
Chance which Takenaka has thought of these two principles is experienced at hospitality industry at a bar.
Immediately after he was diagnosised as disabilities, he has not evaluated at all when he worked as a temple worker.
'The most important thing is to move not for yourself, but for the others.'
By taking bar master' advice and thinking of others, he could work well little by little. And he became evaluated at work. For it, he said that he has devoted himself to work happily. After that, he worked at the bar and endured the troubles which he had never experienced, since he loves alcools.
Since then, he met employment support industry and practice things he noticed at the bar. He feels a current job as a vocation and do his best to become a regular worker and an independent person.
Also, his future vision is to produce results and the goal is to start a business someday.
Finally, Takenaka said, 'I want to move up the career ladder for myself, but it is to act more for “the others.” I want to do the best to aim to make society in which developmental disorders are active no means inferior to non-disabled people.'
(SessionB)【Debat---What are thought of each participant to disabilities welfare?】
After the presentations, participants asked their questions to presntators, and then shifted the debate.
When the debate started, we set debate theme temporally. According to contents of questions and answers, we decided the theme.
'How do you think about the differences between the non-disabled and the disabled?' 'What do you change before diagnosis and after (for the disabled)?'
We thought out the theme as “What do we should for people with developmental disorders to live in society?” From these questions.
Some participants asked 'What is society?' Such as questions about the meaning of them.
'I can't see as the disabled (about two disabled presents).'
'Support models of oversea are different from model of Japan.'
'In Japan, definitions of words tend to be obscure about “developmental disorders” also. It is a factor which the disabled themselves and the others can't understand about these disorders. We should care for meanings of words more.
Like this, there are questions about the meanings of the theme, expectations and perspectives for the support industry hereafter, introduction of support models oversea, important things without concerning whether we have disabilities or not---etc.. Participants who said opinions and thoughts each other, and who have different opinions discussed, sharing diverse feelings.
The debate was extended by about ten minutes and ended.
All participants filled in the questionnaire and there were many honest opinions that provide us with useful information. Thank you very much for all participants.
Also, after ending this debate, many were in place and talked each other, it was the friendly atmosphere.
【Conclusion (Impression)】

The moderator did not do well, and missed time allocation, only same participants talked imbalancedly, etc., there were many reflection points, but honestly speaking, we, as operators, are relieved.
We owned on all cooperation of the participants. Thank you very much.
We missed variously also but we are happy if this debate was useful for all.
